We don’t really get out to dinner much (read: ONCE last year and it was fail town because the baby woke up) so we go out for lunch. Sometimes we steal away a couple of hours and head up Mount Dandenong to Burnham Beeches for lunch. Located on Sherbrooke Rd, Burnham Beeches is nestled among tall Mountain Ash and lush ferny undergrowth. There are walking tracks close by with picnic grounds so even if The Piggery Cafe is packed, which it often is, there are take-away options available. We love the Vue group, Vue De Monde holds a special place in our hearts because that’s where we were engaged so we naturally gravitate towards with Burnham or Bistro Vue for celebrations.
If you head to Burnham and The Piggery Cafe don’t miss out on the charcuterie plate with house pickles. The quarter charcoal chicken platter with stuffing, house nuggets and a selection of three house made salads is ALWAYS a winner for us and the kids love it too. Takeaway coffee is a must as is a cheeky selection of cakes to enjoy at home. An authentic loaf of sourdough bread or a crust baguette for lunch the next day is also a must from Burnham Bakery.
